High School Fall Select

IMG_1015-maverick hitting_0Slammers Select is an innovative High School fall program specifically designed to guide and enhance the process of advancing players to the college or professional level. The Select program provides an excellent learning atmosphere, competition and exposure for its participants. Slammers instructors are former Major League, minor league and college players with over sixty years of combined professional baseball experience. Four of these coaches are also professional scouts. The combination of our instructors, coaches, facilities, and our schedule make our program the #1 Fall program in the Region.

If you are considering a Fall program for your son and he is committed to playing baseball after High School, then please take the time to compare what Slammers has to offer. Slammers wants all players and parents to realize that this program is a major commitment and that we emphasize that academics come first. The NUMBER 1 question that college coaches ask when looking at a player is what type of student athlete he is. Each player’s G.P.A. and A.C.T. scores are extremely important in determining what schools they can attend as well as what type of financial assistance they get from colleges. This emphasis must start their freshman year through their senior year.

In the past 8 years our program has had 10 players drafted with 6 of these players going on to sign professional contracts out of High School (2009, Tyler Rogers 37th round Baltimore Orioles. 2008, Tyler Sample 3rd Round. 2007, A.J. Schugel 32nd round. 2006, Evan Anundsen 4th round. 2005, Reid Engel 5th round, Kyle Winters 5th round. 2004, Ben Krosschell 12th round, Luke French 8th round). During this same period Slammers has had over 90% of its fall players go on to play at the Division 1, 2, 3  and Junior College Level (please check the alumni page to view former players).

The Slammers Fall Program will be held at our Slammers Locations. The program is comprised of 6-8 teams. There are 4 teams made up of mostly juniors and seniors (Blue & Black) and 2 teams made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores (Grey & White). These teams will work out two times a week indoor at our indoor facilities and one day a week outside working on defense. During the two indoor workouts each player will work out with Slammers instructors on hitting & pitching as well as with the Strength & Conditioning coaches.

As a part of the program, these teams will compete in the Slammers Labor Day Tournament which has become the premier event in Colorado for Fall Teams. We then travel to national tournaments held in California (California invitational), Albuquerque, Nebraska (University of Nebraska), and Arizona (Senior, Junior and Sophomore Fall Classic). The Blue & Black teams will also play against regional junior college teams from Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas. This exposure gives junior college coaches an opportunity to scout upcoming talent. This is critical when nearly 90 percent of all Colorado high school players attend a junior college to play baseball. The Grey & White teams will compete on weekends against local fall league high school teams as well as playing in a minimum of one out of state tournament.

We know our unique program provides the necessary skills, competitiveness, experience and exposure needed to advance players beyond high school. This gives players who’ve decided to focus solely on baseball, the extra three months training offered nowhere else. Many Slammers Select alumni have continued their baseball careers playing at the Junior College, Division 1 and Professional level.
